S.O.D. "Unexpected Song" by Bernadette Peters
7/12/2016 Wasn't sure which version to choose here as Sarah Brightman released the single in 1984. More on Brighton later as she needs her own slot. Peters performed the song on the original Broadway recording from the musical "Song and Dance." in this version she fits in some light comedy. Even before this, singer/actress Margaret "Marti" Webb and musician/songwriter Justin Hayward of Moody Blues fame were the first to release it in 1981 as a duet.
The musical theatric number was written by songwriter/lyricist Donald Black and Andrew Lloyd Webber, who has many classifications including TV personality, songwriter, composer, theater director, panelist and businessman. The song had different lyrics in the 1982 version of the musical and was under the title "When You Want to Fall in Love."
Starting at age 10, Peters is now in her 58th year of astounding versatility. She has done it all, TV, film and the stage. Considered to be one of the most respected Broadway actors, she has been nominated for many different awards winning quite a few, and is regarded as one of the foremost interpreters of the works of Stephen Sondheim. Bernadette is also an accomplished author of children's books, and possesses an incredible vocal range as is needed to pull off this song.
