S.O.D. "Hocus Pocus" by Focus
7/12/2015 This tune is classified as an instrumental although there is yodeling and plenty of scat. Thijs Van Leer, keyboardist/vocalist/flautist for the Dutch group and guitarist Jan Akkerman wrote this 1972 progressive/hard rock number that made it to #9 in the U.S. It also did well in Canada and the UK and reentered the UK charts in 2010 after being featured several times during The Chris Moyles show and in a Nike ad shown during the FIFA World Cup.
The band was founded in 1969 by Leer who is also a classically trained organist. They have been on hiatus 4 times and finally regrouped in 2002 and are still touring.
