S.O.D. "The Scientist" by Coldplay

7/13/2015     After listening to George Harrison's "All Things Must Pass," Coldplay vocalist Chris Martin began writing "The Scientist".  One night during a stay in Liverpool, Martin found an old piano that was out of tune and began playing around with different chord sequences.   He stated in an interview that the chord sequence he found was just lovely.

The song is a piano driven ballad and was received nicely by most critics.  Rob Sheffield of Rolling Stone magazine wrote: "The fantastic piano ballad "The Scientist" has a cataclysmic falsetto finale that could raise every hair on the back of your neck.  From the UK magazine NME, Ian  Watson wrote "The Scientist" is a song inexorably linked with the endless night sky and the secret hopes and regrets of 100,000 strangers.

Coldplay has won many awards and keeps their music protected, signing barely any endorsements and turning down multimillion dollar deals quite often.  They are a huge supporter of Apple and fair trade.
