S.O.D. "Like A Stone" by Audioslave

6/29/2015     Blending 1970s hard rock with 1990s alternative rock made up most of the band's music.  The group prided themselves on the fact that every sound on each album was made using only guitar, bass and drums.  Their first two albums have the influence of bands such as Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath mixed with grunge and the funk metal sound of Rage Against the Machine. Their third and last album, "Revelations", was more in the line of 60s – 70s funk, soul and R&B.

This song is supposedly about an old man sitting in his house contemplating the afterlife, waiting to be reunited with all of his friends and family that have passed on.  It shot to #1 on the Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks and Modern Rock Tracks and was named 5th Performing Best Alternative Song for the Alternative Songs Chart of the Decade and the 8th Best Performing Rock Song on the Rock Songs Chart of the Decade.

Audioslave was active from 2001–2007 and were the first American rock band to ever play an open air concert in Cuba.
