S.O.D. "The Power of Love

6/26/2016      Starting out at the age of 12 and popular as a young teenager, Dion began her career with all songs in French, later releasing albums in English, and capturing the hearts of North Americans.  A multi-linguist, she also sings in Spanish, Mandarin, Japanese, Italian, German and Latin.  

     Dion is one of the most successful artists in history selling over 200 million records.  Her 1995 album, "D'eux", is the best selling French language album of all time.  Compared often to Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, she is considered one of the reigning queens of pop and responsible with Carey and Houston for shaping the pop style of the female vocalist in the 90s and early 2000's and revitalizing the power ballad.  Her voice is also often compared to Barbra Streisand's, Dion's idol.  

     Awards, accolades, amazing accomplishments, yes give her the credit and look her up for I could go on forever.  It seems her manager and future husband Rene' Ange'lil, must have known she would become a star, mortgaging his house to finance her first album "La voix du bon Dieu" which she accomplished at age 13.
