S.O.D. "Our Lips Are Sealed" by The Go-Go's
5/22/2015 These gals knew how to have fun which is evident in the music video for this 1981 new wave, post-punk, pop release. The video was paid for by the band- The Police, taken out of their own video budget. In the video they're seen riding in an old Buick convertible which the girls picked out themselves, then doing a little lingerie shopping and ending up splashing around in a fountain which of course was also their idea. They remember actually hoping that the cops would show up, making them look a little more bad ass.
Written by the band's lead guitarist Jane Wiedlin and Terry Hall, lead singer for Fun Boy Three, it charted well peaking at #2 in Australia, #3 in Canada and coming in on 3 different charts in the U.S. In 2000 Rolling Stone named it one of the best 100 pop songs of all time. Fun Boy Three also did a version that made it to the top 10 in the UK.
Formed in 1978 in Los Angeles The Go-Go's were the first, and to date, only all-female band to write their own music and play their own instruments to top the Billboard Album Charts. Their debut album "Beauty and the Beat" broke barriers in the industry and paved the way for many other new American acts. Eventually the LP went Triple Platinum. The group is still active today and have sold in excess of 7 million albums.
