S.O.D. "Roadhouse Blues" by The Doors
5/14/2015 Striving for perfection, producer Paul Rothchild used two days and too many takes to count, making this tune a hit. Morrison was heavily intoxicated at the time, improvising and flubbing several lyrics. Things took off on the second day when resident Electra Records guitarist Lonnie Mack joined in on bass and John Sebastian provided harmonica. Under the genres of blues rock, boogie rock and hard rock, it was written by Morrison and released in 1970. "Planet Rock," Alice Cooper's morning show inspired the line "Woke up this morning and got myself a beer" as Cooper would use this line on the show.
The Doors were formed in 1965 in Los Angeles and were active until 1973, two years after Morrison's death. The band took their name from the book by Aldous Huxley, "The Doors of Perception". Please reference it for further information. The Doors have many awards to their name, have been inducted into the Rock and Roll and Grammy Halls of Fame, have their own star on Hollywood Boulevard and were the first American rock band to accumulate eight consecutive Gold and Platinum LPs.
