S.O.D. "Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk" by Rufus Wainwright
5/13/2016 Aside from the band, an 18 piece string and horn section was used for this 2001 pop tune. It has to do with compulsive behavior and how even the smallest of addictions can take over our actions. Critic Giles Dunning writes that the song is quite intoxicating (no pun intended) and contains elements of George Gershwin, Brian Wilson and French cabaret show tunes.
A unique musician here, he concentrates on the genres of indie pop, baroque pop and operatic pop, even winning a Dora Mavor Moore award for his opera "Prima Donna." Altogether he was nominated for 35 awards by 15 different entities, winning 10 and being recognized on many musical lists. He has also contributed to 16 movie soundtracks and is a dedicated environmentalist. He is the younger brother of musician/singer songwriter Martha Wainwright. His parents were folk singers. Check this guy's music out, it's intriguing.
