S.O.D. "In The Dark" by Billy Squier
4/6/2015 This American singer/songwriter and guitarist is nearing his 5th decade of rocking. This is his 2nd hit single in 1981 coming right after "The Stroke". On the Billboard Hot 100 it reached #35 and went to #7 on Billboards Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks Chart. It appears as the first track from his Triple Platinum album "Don't Say No," which contains many of his hit singles. Squier wrote the tune and helped produce it.
In 1969 at the age of 19 he was in his first band called Magic Terry & The Universe. One year before that he had his first performance at a Boston nightclub called the Psychedelic Supermarket where he saw his biggest influence, Eric Clapton and the band Cream. Squier went on to form other groups and got a big break in 1976 with his band Piper when Circus Magazine announced their debut album as "the greatest debut album ever produced by a U.S. rock band". Piper then got a shot to open for a Kiss on their 1977 tour including two sold out nights at Madison Square Garden.
Squier attended the Berklee College of music in 1971 for piano but never took guitar lessons. His interest in guitar came after college and his first guitar was bought from a neighbor for $95.
