S.O.D. "Shoot to Thrill" by AC/DC

4/17/2015     Although topping out at only #60 on the US Billboard Top Tracks chart, this 1980 hard rock release has been used time and time again in social media.  Along with several video game tracks it has been featured in movies such as Red 2, Talledega Nights, The Dukes of Hazzard, Iron Man 2 and The Avengers blaring from Ironman's suit as he joins Captain America to fight Loki in Germany.  It has also become a popular name for AC/DC tribute bands.  For the World Wrestling Entertainment's 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania, it was the theme song.  This is the 2nd track on the album Back in Black and has several different live versions that are featured as singles or on albums.

AC/DC was formed in 1973 in Sydney, Australia by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young who are the two guitarists for the band.  Malcolm had to leave the band in 2014 due to illness and was replaced by his and Angus's nephew Stevie Young.  Back in Black has been their best-selling album of all having sold 10,000 copies per day during it's first week on the market.  It is the fifth best selling album of all time by any artist and the third best selling album by any band.

AC/DC is one of the best selling bands of all time and the 10th best-selling band in the U.S. with 200 million records sold worldwide.  The band's name was taken from a sewing machine of all things when Malcolm and Angus's sister Margaret saw the initials there meaning "alternating current/direct current".  Crazy!!!!!!
