S.O.D. "Washington Square" by The Village Stompers

4/16/2016     Here's a little Folk-Dixie sound for you in the form of an instrumental released in 1963 by this 8 piece group from Greenwich Village.  They pretty much concentrated on just the Folk-Dixie sound.  It was their first hit song and went to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Adult Contemporary Charts and the Australian Charts.  They released a good number of songs for movie soundtracks including the James Bond film "From Russia With Love" and "Fiddler On The Roof."  In all they made six studio albums mainly for the Epic record label.
