S.O.D. "Teenage Idol" by Gary Moore
2/28/2015 Moore hits it on the head for everybody yearning to be a rockstar with this fast-paced, hard rocking 1983 release from his album "Victims of the Future". It's hard to find information on the song but Moore is probably describing himself as he quits school and his job, dumps his girl, leaves home, picks up the guitar and carries himself to stardom. On this album Moore delivers more guitar notes then most guitarists record in a lifetime. This combined with his powerful vocals and every song sounding like a hit, make it a once-in-a-lifetime staggering accomplishment.
Moore was born in Belfast, Ireland, one of five children of Bobby and Winnie Moore. He began playing guitar at the age of eight and moved to Dublin at the age of 16. Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac was his greatest influence and a mentor to Moore while performing in Dublin. Moore was a member of Thin Lizzy and Skid Row before going solo and has shared stages with such artists as B. B. King, Jack Bruce, Greg Lake and George Harrison. He has influenced many guitarists including guitarist Randy Rhoads.
Moore passed on to Music Heaven in February 2011 in Estepona Spain of a heart attack while sleeping. A large statue of the teenage idol was erected in 2013 outside of Skanevik on a small island. This was due to his many performances at the Skanevik Blues Festival.
