S.O.D. "Even the Bad Times are Good" by The Tremeloes
2/27/2016 Written by Peter Callander, and Mitch Murray who are English songwriters and record producers. Callander was a founding member of the Society of Distinguished Songwriters (SODS) and Murray is considered to be one of the finest comedy speechwriters in Britain. This is a 1967 tune that made it to #4 on the UK charts.
The group got their start in East London in 1958 and are still active with no hiatuses. Their genre consists of only one, "Beat," which came about in the early 60s, combining Rock & Roll, Doo-Wop, Skiffle, and R&B. The genre was responsible for many of the Bands that came out of the UK during the British invasion on the American pop charts. "Beat" also had a hand in developing the format for the standard Rock & Roll band of lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass and drums.
The group, heavily influenced by Buddy Holly, beat out The Beatles in 1962 for an audition put on by Decca records. Brian Poole on lead vocals, Rick Westwood on guitar and vocals, Alan Blakley playing rhythm guitar, keyboards and vocals, bassist Alan Howard and Dave Munden on drums and lead vocals made up the original Tremeloes. Munden is still with the group that actively tours the UK.
