S.O.D. "Children of the Revolution" by T. Rex

2/28/2016     Keeping it in the band family, Mark Bolan on guitar and lead vocals wrote the 1972 glam rock hit, and producing is Tony Visconti who also came up with the string arrangement and provided backing vocals.  The song is featured in the 1972 concert film, "Born to Boogie, which was directed by Ringo Starr.  It shows Starr jamming with Elton John and T. Rex in London at the Apple Studios.  A few other media spots are to it's credit as well as more than 20 versions put out by other artists.  

     On the charts it topped out at #1 in Ireland, #2 in the UK and #4 in Germany while  ranking in six other countries.  From 1967 to 1970 the group was known as Tyrannosaurus Rex before changing their name to T Rex.  The band experienced moderate success in the early and mid-70s.  Many of the original members have passed on to Music Heaven including Mark Bolan in 1977 which caused the band to disperse.
