S.O.D. "Everybody Hurts" by R.E.M.
10/2/2020 This 1993 Intl hit single did a lot of good in the world. In 2010 it was chosen as the relief song to raise money for the people of Haiti, suffering from the aftermath of the earthquake and tsunami. Other than R.E.M., eighteen musicians recorded their own versions in 2010 for the proceeds. Not only did R.E.M. wave all of the royalties, but also British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown waived all value added tax on the single. Brown appointed Simon Cowell to find a single and organize things. Four members of the band wrote the song, with Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones writing the string arrangement.
