S.O.D. "La Villa Strangiato" by Rush

So here we go, paying homage to possibly the greatest progressive rock drummer ever.  If you’re not familiar with, or can’t remember his amazing sound, you should go back and listen a little.

Peart wrote most of the lyrics for the Canadian trio. In this song, they’re very first instrumental, Peart gives much more to the composition.  In this masterpiece, the inspiration is from one of Lifeson’s dreams.  The division of parts is much more than intricate, pushing the imagination.

Peart’s main influences are Bonham, Moon and Baker, nestling in hard rock with content.  He became serious with the drums at age 14, performing with his high school in a church.  At age 18, he bounced around London, playing with different groups, and even landing some session work. Needing to get back home, he played for a group called Hush, coincidentally, while working with his father selling tractor parts. Soon after this he auditioned for Rush, showing up in a beat up Ford, his drums stored in different trash cans. After that he just became amazing.

Neil was the oldest of four siblings. They were Danny, Judy, and Nancy. His parents were Glen and Betty.  Please show some appreciation, using your hands to drum on something for a long time.
