S.O.D. "Chimes of Freedom" by Bob Dylan
7/4/2018 This song just felt right for Independence Day. Released in 1964 from his album, "Another Side of Bob Dylan," it is inspired by the poetic works of Arthur Rimbaud. The lyrics are somewhat perplexing and certainly worth reading. While waiting out a lightning storm with a friend, Dylan related to the unfortunate people of the earth and felt as if the thunder was tolling for them in sympathy. In the New Testament, the "Sermon on the Mount" is the longest continuous speech of Jesus. Music critic Paul Williams refers to this song as Dylan's "Sermon on the Mount."
