S.O.D. "I've Got a Lovely Bunch of Coconuts" by Fred Heatherton
8/30/2017 Heatherton was the original writer and composer. This 1944 novelty song, originally with the spelling of Cocoanuts, has been recorded many times and has appeared in several public media spots. The 1963 film "I Could Go On Singing," features Judy Garland singing the song, in what would be her last film.
The song has to do with a carnival game called the Coconut Shy, where coconuts are stacked up, usually in a pyramid shape that you knock over with a ball. Many of us have seen this game that has now taken a different form, mostly in the form of steel milk bottles. Can't find Garland's version so we will go with Danny Kaye's.
