S.O.D. "Children's Crusade" by Sting

8/29/2017     Three periods of time are referenced in this 1985 tune. The year 1212 was known as the Children's Crusade in which thousands of children ranging in age from 6-13 or 14, attempted to journey from France and Germany to Jerusalem. Their cause was to take back the holy land from the Turks by faith alone.  You can read about the event, but none reached Jerusalem.

The song mostly refers to World War I, and also the tragic situation that still exists today in the form of heroin and the minuscule worms that give and sell it to children.
