S.O.D. "Goin Up the Country" by Canned Heat

9/4/2015    This song is sometimes referred to as the Anthem of Woodstock and in the film, the spoken introduction is used but the studio version of the song is played.  Canned Heat is mostly a blues rock group and based the song on the 1928 tune "Bull Doze Blues," by blues musician Henry Thomas who is out of Texas.  From their album Living the Blues, the 1968 release has also been called a National Hippie Anthem.

The band was founded by blues enthusiasts Alan Wilson – guitar, harmonica, vocals, and Bob Hite – guitar, harmonica, flute, vocals.  2015 is their 50th year of making music.  Including live and compilation albums, they have released 53 in all.  This video is live footage from Woodstock and contains nudity.  Whaaaaaaaaaat????
