S.O.D. "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)" by Glass Tiger

10/1/2015     The Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada in 1996 gave this song the honor rights of being aired more than 100,000 times on Canadian radio.  It was a 1986 release so that's easy math.  For Single of the Year it took the Juno Award and was voted by readers of Rock Express magazine the Top Canadian Single of 1987.  Two versions of the music video were created to appeal to different markets. The main reason for this was A&Rs Senior Vice President of Marketing, Steven Reed's persistence in recognizing that the first video was guided more toward youth acceptance and did not express the band's talent or entertainment caliber.

The single and album was produced by Jim Vallance, who also cowrote the song along with the band.  When he first met the band and picked them up from the airport, they went to his home, drank tea and listened to records.  When Tears for Fears tune "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" started playing, they liked the shuffle beat and used it to create "Don't Forget Me".  Vallance has done a lot of work with rocker Bryan Adams who provides backing vocals for the track.  Since the start of Glass Tiger's career in 1983 they have released 7 albums and 17 singles.
