S.O.D. "Bang Your Head (Metal Health)" by Quiet Riot

9/13/2015     Back to the early 80s for some more heavy metal/glam metal with this multi platinum group boasting their own special sound.  The single is from their 1983 album of the same name that would be their breakthrough album.  The tune targets the headbanging subculture and lets them know "well now you're here, there's no way back".  This lyric turned out to be the title for their 2014 documentary.  An interesting fact regarding the music video:  it was filmed in the Walt Disney Modular Theater and hallways of the California Institute of the Arts where students are used as extras.  Probably the only time the world of Disney and heavy metal are together.  The tune charted fairly well and has been used quite a few times in public media.

Quiet Riot was founded in 1973 by former Ozzie Osbourne guitarist Randi Rhodes R.I.P., and bassist Kelly Garni.  The original name of the band was Mach 1. They took quite a few breaks but are still active today.  The tune was written by guitarist Carlos Cavazo, drummer Frankie Banali and lead vocalist Kevin DuBrow who has since passed on to Metal Heaven.  Quiet riot is ranked #100 on VH1s 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.
