S.O.D. "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)" by Christopher Cross

8/11/2015      From the 1981 movie "Arthur" starring Dudley Moore and Liza Minnelli, this award-winning, soft rock tune took the Academy Award and the Golden Globe for Best Original Song for that year.  A four-way writing credit was collaborated among Christopher Cross, pop music composer Burt Bacharach, American singer – songwriter Carol Bayer Sager and Liza Minnelli's ex husband, Australian songwriter Peter Allen, often writing with Sager and Bacharach.  It charted well around the world taking the number one spot in Canada, Norway and 2 charts in the U.S., staying at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 3 consecutive weeks.  

     The most famous line in the song, "If you get caught between the moon and New York City", was taken from an unreleased song that Bayer Sager and Allen had written together.  Christopher Cross has been active since 1979, has released 19 albums and won 5 Grammys in 1979 for his debut album entitled: Christopher cross.
