S.O.D. "What a Beautiful Day" by The Levellers
9/1/2015 This tune may be unknown to some of you although it did well on the charts across Europe and finished at #78 for the decade of the 90s. The English band formed in Brighton in 1988 and took their name from a 17th century radical democracy movement called the Levellers founded in England during the English Civil War.
These guys play a lot of outdoor festivals across Europe which seems like the place to be for that sort of thing. In January 2015 they played St. Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin. Although classified under the genres of alternative rock, folk punk & English folk, they denied being a folk band for years. In 2011 however they were awarded the Roots Award by the BBC Radio which consisted of two Folk Awards. They are a six and sometimes seven piece band which include mandolin, fiddle and a didgeridoo.
