S.O.D. "Oh Yeah" by Yello

8/3/2015     Under the genres of synthpop and house comes this 1985 unusual tune combining electronic music and manipulated vocals.  Written by the only two members of the group: Boris Blank, a Swiss artist and musician and Dieter Meier, Swiss musician and conceptual artist.  It charted fairly well and became popular after being featured in many social media spots including the movies "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" with Matthew Broderick, "The Secret of My Success" with Michael J Fox, episodes of The Simpsons and South Park, video games and quite a few others.  With the song's remix in 2006, it went to #1 on the U.S. Dance charts.

Yello was formed in 1979 in Switzerland and is still active today.  They take their name from a pun based on a comment by Meier "a yelled hello".  They have produced 20 albums and work closely with vocalists Billy Mackenzie and Shirley Bassey.
