S.O.D. "Cold One" by Jenny Lewis and Jonathan Rice

8/14/2016     From the  2015 film, "Ricki and the Flash" starring Meryl Streep, Rick Springfield and Streep's real life daughter Mamie Gummer.  Lewis herself went through the ordeal of her mother attempting to juggle a musical career and a family.  Ironically Lewis is now in the same real-life situation as the mother.  They wrote the song especially for Streep's character, Ricki, and after speaking with Streep, Lewis explained that the lyrics came easy.  

     I must say that this movie is a "feel good" hit all around and I am pretty much addicted to it.  Can't stop singing the song either.  Jenny Lewis is also an actress and the former guitartist of the indie rock band Rilo Kiley. Jonathan Rice works with Lewis quite frequently on various projects.  He is also an actor, and played Roy Orbison in the film "Walk the Line" alongside Reese Witherspoon and Joaquin Phoenix.  

     Again I must say, "see this movie" and look for it to be mentioned in the various awards ceremonies.  Streep does all of her own singing and guitar work in the film.
