S.O.D. "Willie the Wimp and His Cadillac Coffin" by Bill Carter and Ruth Ellsworth

7/28/2016     Having to do with real life gangster Willie Stokes and his son Willie "The Wimp" Stokes.  The senior was a pool hall owner and drug trafficking kingpin that loved to flaunt his wealth.  His son was following in his footsteps with the drug trafficking and gambling addiction.

The junior was murdered at the age of 28, two years before his father would be.  The coffin that Stokes had designed for him was in the form of a Cadillac Seville. It had a steering wheel, headlights and taillights that actually worked, a windshield, whitewall tires and a license plate that said "Wimp."  If that wasn't enough, his father plaid him in a red suit, gray hat, a few diamond rings and stuffed many $100 bills between his fingers.  The deceased was also propped up in his casket with his hands on the steering wheel.  How many people do you think have tried to dig him up?

The story became known internationally and when Carter and Ellsworth heard of it. They wrote the music on the way to the studio.  When they got to the studio, musician Jimmy Vaughn was there and after getting the gist of the tune, called his brother Stevie Ray. The rest is pretty much history.
