S.O.D. "Lighthouse" by The Waifs

7/20/2015     Quite a  popular group in Australia, they formed in 1992 in Albany, Western Australia under the folk rock genre.  Founded by sisters Donna & Vikki Simpson, both guitarists and daughters of a seasonal salmon fisherman, inspiring many tunes having to do with the sea.

Donna was 20 at the time and with 16-year-old sister Vikki they took to the road to perform as the duo "Colours".  They soon met Josh Cunningham, a South Wales farmer's son who had been playing guitar for a while and was traveling with a band playing bass.  One night after a Colours 12 bar blues set the girls invited Josh for a jam session and 10 minutes into it they clicked so well that Donna asked Josh to join Colours.  Together with their touring musicians, Ben Franz on bass and David Ross McDonald keeping the beat, they have produced six albums with their album "Up All Night" achieving double platinum status.

They have won many awards, toured with Bob Dylan in Australia and founded their own record label Jarrah, co-owned with musician John Butler and they're common producer Phil Stevens.  Vikki turns on her harmonica skills in this tune.
