S.O.D. "The Pink Panther Theme" by Henry Mancini

7/1/2016     Many of us associate this 1963 jazz tune with the animated Pink Panther series.  It was created however for the 1963 motion picture "The Pink Panther" starring Peter Sellers. Mancini composed the entire score for the movie.  It made it to the top 10 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart in 1964.

Three Grammy Awards are also to its credit.  The saxophone in the song is played by soul-jazz and hard bop tenor saxophonist Plas Johnson which he is most well known for.
