S.O.D. "Strange Love" by Depeche Mode

7/1/2015      This is the only tune I can remember on the S.O.D. list that has ever charted in Poland and doing so at #4.  In the U.S. it took #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Play chart where it stayed for 3 weeks.  Altogether it ranked in 14 countries including Finland, Germany and South Africa at #2 and #3 in Switzerland.  From their 1987 album "Music for the Masses," it is the group's 18th UK single.  Two videos were made with the first being very racy and the 2nd more simpler, concentrating on the band performing rather than nudity.

The Mode group was formed in 1980 in Basildon, Essex, England and in their 35 years of making music, have only had five members which is most likely a record and right up there with ZZ Top's longevity.  Fifty of their singles made the UK charts and 13 of their albums have been in the top 10.  They have sold more than 100 million albums worldwide making them one of the most commercially successful electronic bands ever and one of the worlds best selling bands.

Q Magazine named them the most popular electronic band the world has ever known and included them on the list of "50 Bands That Changed the World".
