S.O.D. "I'll Sail My Ship Alone" by Moon Mullican

^/27/2016     A popular song in the year of 1950 written by Mullican along with music executive Syd Nathan, arranger/musician, Henry Bernard and Henry Thurston.  On the Country and Western chart it held the #1 position for one week and remained on that chart for approximately nine months. Many artists have covered the tune including Jerry Lee Lewis, Hank Williams, George Jones and Leon Russell.  Patsy Cline added it to her final recording session before her death.  

     He was born Aubrey Wilson Mullican in Folk County Texas, 1909 and passed on to Music Heaven in 1967.  Aside from songwriting and vocals, he played piano and was known as King of the Hillbilly Piano Players.  It seemed there was nothing he couldn't play including country and western, jazz, blues and rockabilly.  He inspired some of the greats including Hank Williams, Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley.  75 singles are to his credit with this song being his most successful.
