S.O.D. "How to Save a Life" by The Fray

6/22/2015     Quite the story behind this tune that was composed by lead vocalist Isaac Slade and guitarist Joe King.  A friend of Slade's is the president for a school in Denver for troubled youths. King and Slade went to that school for one of their weekend retreats and were paired up with the students.  One particular young man was a musician and Slade realized that all he needed was some support and not the negativity he was receiving from his family and friends.  He understood that no one could write a manual on how to save him and that the young man's experiences were similar to his own.

The tune is their most successful airplay song to date and ended up in the teens and 20s on 4-5 different end of year and end of the decade charte.  It charted in 18 countries, went 3x platinum and stayed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 58 consecutive weeks making it the 7th longest charting single in history for this particular chart. The tune is also the 4th Best selling rock song in digital history, receiving 4.7 million downloads. The response from the group's fans associated with the song's meaning and other incidents involving troubled teens was overwhelming.
