S.O.D. "Foreplay/Long Time" by Boston
5/28/2015 This song was written by musical engineering mastermind and leader of the rock group, Tom Scholz who can play just about any instrument you ask him to. In the early 70s he created a violin like sound from the guitar which turned out to be a distinctive innovation of American music. The first part, "Foreplay" is an instrumental that Scholz recorded six years before the debut album came out. He made the recording on a two track machine in his basement. When the band was putting the album together, "Foreplay" was released as the B side for the single "Piece of Mind" and "Longtime" was released in 1977 with "Let Me Take You Home Tonight" as the B side.
From their debut album "Boston" featuring the astounding Brad Delp on lead vocals who also sung along with the backing vocals on each track which is not easy to do. The album sold over 25 million copies worldwide and continues to receive regular airplay, using just about every song on the album. Boston was formed in Boston (how about that) in 1976 and are still active with Tom Scholz being the only original member.
