S.O.D. "Don't Ask Me No Questions" by Lynyrd Skynyrd
4/14/2015 This is a tribute song to the band's original drummer Robert "Bob" Burns who died last week in a car accident in Cartersville, Georgia when he lost control of the vehicle and went head on into a tree. He was the only person in the car. After providing the drumming for the group's very first two albums which sprung such hits as "Sweet Home Alabama," "Simple Man," "Freebird" and today's S.O.D., he became weary of touring and left the band in 1974. More than three decades later in 2006 he would join his former bandmates for their induction ceremony into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
"Don't Ask Me No Quesrions" was written by the two bandmembers Gary Rossington and Ronnie Van Zandt during a fishing trip and sends a message to the people that became demanding when the band reached success but previously wanted nothing to do with them. The southern rock band originated in Jacksonville, Florida in 1966 first known as The Pretty Ones. They would change their name to The Noble Five and One Percent before becoming Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1968. Rolling Stone Magazine has ranked them at #95 on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
