4/13/2016 You can find these guys in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most successful music duo in UK history. They have made it to the top 30, forty two times, in the top 10, twenty two times, and have grabbed the #1 spot four times. Worldwide they have sold more than 50 million records.
This 1987 synthpop tune, hit #1 in 11 of the 14 countries it charted in. Written by bandmembers Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe, it is based on Tennant's Catholic upbringing and education and the confession of mostly every form of sin, which is spoken in Latin near the end of the song. That part of his life must have been quite memorable since he claims to have written the lyrics in 15 minutes.
Billboard's Joel Whitburn ranks the group #4 on the U.S. Dance/Club Play charts spanning from 1974-2003, behind Madonna, Janet Jackson, and Donna Summer. The group just released their 13th album entitled "Super" with the lead single being "Pop Boys."
