S.O.D. "Would I Lie To You" by the Eurythmics
4/8/2016 Did you know that before this song the Eurythmics were just a duo, using electronic programming for their musicality. This dance rock/funk rock/pop rock 1985 release, propelled them into more of a rhythm and blues/rock 'n' roll style and is backed by a full band. It charted in 14 countries, taking the #1 spot in Australia, the Top 10 in 8 countries and the top 40 in all but France, at #41. The cheating boyfriend in the music video is Steven Bauer, Al Pacino's right-hand man in the film "Scarface."
So anyway, Annie Lennox on vocals and piano and David Allen Stewart, on everything else, made up the Eurythmics which formed in 1980 in London England. Before that they were both in the new wave/pop rock/post punk group, The Tourists. The Eurythmics have won quite a few awards and have released nine studio albums.
Let's move onto Annie Lennox, winner of Best British female Artist six times, yes that is the most by a female which is the only gender that could win the award. Her work as an activist/humanitarian I would say kicks ass, both as an HIV/AIDS activist and for woman's rights. In 2009 she spoke of the "tremendous harm" caused by the Pope of his denunciation of condoms, also criticizing the Roman Catholic Church and going against the media for keeping the AIDS pandemic off the front page. Many performers stand by her, with Adele stating; "Annie Lennox has been a constant part of my life. An example of a brilliant talent that exudes excellence and influence on everyone."
