4/9/2016     S.O.D. "Strike the Bell" by  Roy Harris.  At age 82, one of our most beloved folksingers has passed on to Music Heaven.  He organized the first folk music club in South Wales called the Cardiff Folk Song Club.  In the first week he had a dozen people show up and within a year, close to 300, sort of like the S.O.D.  

     Unconventional from most folk artists that played an instrument, he preferred to sing a cappella, and could relate to an audience, kind of knowing what they wanted to hear.  He formed other music clubs as well that gained national recognition.  Also a radio personality, he presented the BBC's Nottingham Folk Music Program for ten years.  Roy was an inspiration to many young singers and singer Pete Coe remarked that Roy Harris' instrument was actually his audience.
