S.O.D. "Blow My Fuse" by Kix

4/5/2015     There have been some good things that have come out of Maryland and these guys continue the streak.  I have recently seen them in concert a and they deliver with their high energy rock, moving around like a group of 20-year-olds in their 50-60ish bodies.  They really know how to put on and close a show. This tune is from their 1988 album of the same name which went to #46 on the Billboard charts.  Their power ballad on the album, "Don't Close Your Eyes" ranked at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and along with the album's other tracks made it their best work ever, going platinum and becoming the band's breakthrough album.

Kix originated in Hagerstown Maryland in 1977 and have really stuck together, having only six past members in their 31 active years. They were originally known as "The Shooze" from 1977 to 1980, then for one year they took two names, "The Generators" followed by the "Baltimore Cocks" before finally settling on KIX.  From '77 to '96 bassist Donnie Purnell wrote most of the songs and was the band's mastermind.  The group went on hiatus from '96 to 2003 and reformed without Purnell in the lineup.  Lead singer Steve Whiteman continues to give vocal lessons in Baltimore.
