S.O.D. "Fanfare for the Common Man" by Emerson, Lake & Palmer
3/22/2016 Keith Emerson has left us and this tribute song is one he made a recomposition on from a 1942 song written by American composer, Aaron Copland. Copland's version was around the three-minute mark and ELP turned it into a nine minute piece. Mr. Copland was very gracious about giving his permission for the progressive rock group to release it and felt honored that they had chosen his song. This is an instrumental rock song with a classical air that will seem shorter than it really is because it's so damn good.
ELP was active from 1971-79, 1991-98, 2010 and remain one of the most successful progressive rock bands of all time. Mr. Emerson, you are a genius & pioneer of your craft and you will be missed.
