S.O.D. "Dog Days Are Over" by Florence + The Machine
2/23/2016 Another group I had no idea existed. This tune jumps out at you in a hurry and shows off Florence Welch's pipes in an angry, bluesy and unique way. The 2008/2010 release blends indie rock, soul, art rock and Baroque pop. You really have to listen to the music if you're watching the video because the video which was nominated for 4 MTV Music Awards, will take over your attention.
Even now the song grows in popularity, reaching 1,800,000 downloads just in the US. It's hard to say enough about the song that NME; New Musical Express Magazine ranked at #33 on their list of the best songs in the past 15 years. There are of course standard instruments involved with the addition of a violin, viola and harp.
Welch was inspired to write the song by a large text display that read, "Dog Days Are Over." This was created by mixed media artist Ugo Rondinone and Florence would see this every day riding her bike over the Waterloo Bridge in London.
