S.O.D. "Foolkiller" by Mose Allison
11/25/2016 Music Heaven has taken a jazz giant both vocally and on the piano. He had a unique style and one, two or even three new genres could've been named from his sound. At the age of 13 he wrote his first song. Up to that point in his birth town of Tippo, Mississippi, he picked cotton and played piano as well as taking up the trumpet in high school.
He moved to New York in 1956 and his career in jazz began to unfold. Allison began performing with artists such as Phil Woods, Al Cohn and Stan Getz. Then in 1957 at age 29 he released his debut album "Back Country Suite," which received positive reception. He would go on to release 32 albums as a solo artist accompanied mainly by bass and drums.
Considered one of the best songwriters of 20th century blues, inspired musicians include Leon Russell, Bonnie Raitt, Van Morrison, the Rolling Stones, the Yardbirds, Tom Waits and Jimi Hendrix.
