S.O.D. "Lawdy Miss Clawdy" by Lloyd Price

11/17/2016     Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, this long lasting entertainer is now 83 and in his 64th year of belting it out.  This was his first single which he wrote and composed.  Considered one of the best songs of the 50s, it stayed at #1 on Billboards R&B chart for 7 weeks.  The song also was the R&B Record of the Year for 1952 and made the list of the 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.  It has been recorded by the likes of Elvis Presley, The Hollies, Fats Domino, Paul McCartney and many others.  Price has released 32 albums and 27 singles with 21 in the top 40 and 14 in the top 10.  His latest work includes a Broadway musical: "Lawdy Miss Clawdy," and his autobiography The True King of the Fifties: The Lloyd Price Story.
