S.O.D. "My Best Friend's Girl" by The Cars
10/5/2016 Pretty much just a fun song here that received positive reviews from critics and music journalists alike. It's a story that happens every day, when a guy sees a former girlfriend with one of his friends, and yes, sometimes his best friend. Q magazine, in 2003 added it to their list of the 1001 Best Songs Ever. On the charts it didn't seem to rank as high as a song like this should, coming in at #35 in the US, #55 in Canada, but doing better at #3 in the UK.
A 1978 release from their debut album "The Cars", written by the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, Rick Ocasek and produced by Roy Thomas Baker who has worked with The Rolling Stones, Santana, David Bowie and many others. He got his start with Queen, producing their first 5 albums.
The Cars, from Boston Massachusetts were active from 1976–1988, took a huge hiatus until 2010 and are still jamming today. In all this time they have had only five bandmembers. This is quite a rarity.
