S.O.D. "Rock This Town" by Stray Cats

1/7/2015     These guys were the bomb when they first emerged.  First of all, having a 17 year career with two hiatuses and only six members total is pretty remarkable.  They got their start in 1979 in Massapequa, New York and dispersed in 2009, rockabilly being there only genre.

Because of a British subculture called Teddy Boy, which has to do with the Edwardian period between 1901 and 1910 in the UK and the clothes worn at the time, the band moved there and quickly became popular.  Musicians and record labels started to take notice and by 1983 they were the opening act for the Rolling Stones' tour.

This 1981 release made it to #9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was named by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as one of the 500 songs that shaped Rock and Roll.
