S.O.D. "Lido Shuffle" by Boz Scaggs

1/30/2015     Wouldn't you think this song would make #1 somewhere?  Australia ranked it at #2 and in Canada it topped out at #5.  In the U.S. it settled at #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and made the Cash Box Top 100 at #6.  The 1977 Pop Rock tune was written by Scaggs and keyboardist/vocalist David Paich, who in 1977 along with drummer Jeff Porcaro and some of the back up band members for this song, formed Toto.  Scaggs doesn't give an origin for the catchy number, just that he had been playing around with the tune and got the idea of the beat from the Fats Domino song, "The Fat Man."

At just 15 y/o, Scaggs was the vocalist for the Marksmen, Steve Miller's first group.  Scaggs received the nickname, Boz, from schoolmate, Mal Buckner, which started out as Bosley.

Boz is still playing and touring in his 53rd year in the biz.  In Napa Valley, Scaggs and his wife make their own wine.  This song is from the album, "Silk Degrees" which went 5xMulti Platinum.
