S.O.D. "Thirsty Boots" by Eric Anderson

1/24/2016     Did Anderson write the last verse of this song on a matchbook cover? Could be.  Singer/songwriter Judy Collins, who covered the tune, states that she knows he did while he was in her bathroom.  Bob Dylan did a version that you can find on his "Bob Dylan The Bootleg Series Vol. 10" album released in 2013.

The 1966 folk tune has to do with civil rights and was supposedly written to a friend of Anderson's who was a civil-rights worker.  Anderson is proficient on guitar, keyboards, piano, harmonica and vocals.  He has released 30 albums and is considered to be one of the best songwriters of all time.  His latest album, "Dance of Love and Death will be released sometime this year.

He has been active since 1963 and is still at it.  Anderson was born in Pittsburgh and now lives in the Netherlands. His grandfather immigrated from Norway. He also lived in Woodstock, New York for a while and was a part of the Greenwich Village folk scene in the 60s.
