S.O.D. "New Kid in Town" by the Eagles

1/20/2016     Let's do Glenn a double honor. One of the many tunes he sang lead vocals on, "New Kid in Town" hit "1 in the US and Canada and charted in six other countries.  It was cowritten by Don Henley and JD Souther.

Frey and Souther were roommates in Los Angeles in the 60s. They wrote music together and learned a lot from their downstairs neighbor, Jackson Browne, just by hearing him through the ceiling.  The song has to do with being the #1 or most popular musician or kid on the block at the time, knowing someone will soon replace you.

The Recording Industry of America awarded the Eagles with the Best Selling Album of the Century.  The award was given in 1999 for "Their Greatest Hits" album.  Go to the Eagles website to see the words written by friends and family for Glenn Frey.
