S.O.D. "Who Do You Love" by Bo Diddley
1/17/2015 Ellas McDaniel was his real name, changed from Ellas Bates as a child. The name Bo Diddley came from his friends, he thinks. No one is really sure. He contributed much to music, including his signature rectangular guitar. He also has his own "Bo Diddley beat" This beat is common with African and Cuban music.
What can I say, the man was all over the place, a multi-instrumentalist and being inducted into 8 Music Halls of Fame. Some of the musicians inspired by the icon are The Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Elvis Presley, The Yardbirds and The Who. Mr Diddley passed on to Music Heaven in 2008.
This 1956 release has some wild lyrics and has been covered by quite a few artists with the most notable by Ronnie Hawkins and the Hawks in 1963, psychedelic rock band Quicksilver Messenger Service in 1969 and George Thorogood and the Destroyers in 1978. The tune is ranked at #133 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.
