They got their start in Chicago in 1958 with Curtis Mayfield as part of the lineup, and they're still going strong.  They have released 21 albums in all.  They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2003.  Their album "The Anthology" covers their music from 1961-1977 and is ranked at #179 on Rolling Stone's list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
