3/23/2023 This song was first performed by Johnny Mathis for the 1957 movie, “Wild Is the Wind.” It was composed by conductor, Dimitri Tiompkin, and lyricist, Ned Washington. Nina Simone released a version in 1959, and met Bowie for the first time in 1975. Bowie’s inspiration to record the song, came from Simone’s version, which he was deeply moved by. Bowie states the song is an homage to Ms. Simone.

When you have accomplished the positions of civil rights activist, Christian minister, best-selling author, philosopher, and community developer, your work speaks volumes. Among other profound statements, Dr. Perkins proclaimed; “Love Is the loudest song you can sing, louder than racism, louder than fear, louder than hatred. Love is the final fight. This San Diego-based rock band has been active since 1996, and are involved with many humanitarian causes.
